The Committee on Publicness in conversation with Kim K. Atlas at the Grüntaler9 SOUNDPLANT.
A series of performances and talks, which capture the spirit of MPA-B 2011-2015 as a physical space, defined by inversion. MPA–B was founded in 2011 to explore new models of curating and to facilitate connections and cooperation amongst organisations and independent players working in the field of performance art in Berlin.
We will ask former and future collaborators to contribute to a generative sound library, a collective curriculum for the past (MPA-B) and future (the committee) practices of APAB e.V. (Association for Performance Art in Berlin) This approach emphasizes the act of ‘listening’ on a post-subjective (witness) level as an active and ongoing component of the art event itself to describe a state of emergence or experiential shift.

“…once you know that you don’t know, you can begin to explore.”
During the round-table discussion we wish to discuss the workshop weekend that took place at
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and joined together three communities, the Month of Perfomance
Art – Berlin, the Artistic Research study circle at the Nordic Summer University and the study group Creativity in Academic Work at Nordeuropa-Institut Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (see May 2nd and 3rd). We also wish to return to some of the questions raised at MPA in May 2014 with the “Four Approaches to Artistic Research” forum. In what ways can we intervene within the institution and introduce non-hierarchical and collaborative forms of knowledge production? How do we establish knowledge? What must be unlearned in order to gain new knowledge? The round-table discussion is open to all and will take its starting point in a collective reading of Dennis Atkinson’s essay, “Pedagogy of the Event.”
The exploration into not knowing will be concluded with an cooking action by Pepe Dayaw from the Nowhere Kitchen, who will prepare dinner with the leftovers brought to Meinblau during the day.
INSTRUCTIONS from Pepe for the food-based action: Before you leave the house to go to Meinblau, go to your fridge or pantry and grab a leftover. It could be an open bottle of wine, bag of chips, spare onions, day old bread, opened pack of wurst, peanuts or anything else that you interpret as leftovers: cooked or raw, hot or cold. In case you are coming from somewhere else, grab something random on your way. You can also bring a memento from a past travel or relationship, a gossip you heard this morning or a joke you laughed at yesterday, a new dance move you saw being posted on Facebook, a hangover from last night, your recent success or latest failures. Together, we will cook these into something that has yet to become a recipe while inhabiting a state of ‘uncertainty’. Come hungry.
* “Crossing Contexts” is a three-year program initiated in 2013.

Throughout the week of 11th-17th of May I will visit various locations that are associated with political power and wait for a miracle. By miracle I mean some sort of tangible and instant improvement in the quality and effectiveness of governance (I retain the right to define a miracle as I please).
The performance consists of me arriving at the location and waiting, there is no specific duration for each wait period. When I get bored, lose “faith”, or if I simply have something better to do I leave. Each performance will be documented with a selfie type photo, taken so that I and the object of interest are in the frame. At the end of May the photos will be exhibited, including any evidence of a miracle occurring.
